2009 IT LIST
2. Kalahari Resorts
Sandusky, Ohio
By Kendra Kozen | August 2009

Waterpark description: The Kalahari Resort in Sandusky features what is considered the largest indoor waterpark under one roof.

A highlight of the African-themed waterpark is the state-of-the-art, transparent roofing system. Signature attractions are the Swahili Swirl bowl slide, four-lane mat racers, two stationary wave machines and a wave pool.

The “it” factor: With 173,000 square feet of indoor waterpark space that can handle up to 4,000 guests, the authentically African-themed resort lives up to its motto, “Go Big, or Go Home.”

The property also includes a 77,000-square-foot outdoor waterpark, Spa Kalahari, multiple on-site dining options, an indoor minigolf course, convention space and the Kid’s Club. New this summer is the Safari Adventures Animal Park, featuring educational, interactive experiences with African wildlife.
